Geocache Description:

The SQ in the cache name above signifies Spirit Quest, a project used by both the Northwest Ohio Geocachers and the Indiana Geocachers to distinguish those caches that are set in cemeteries or memorial gardens. I feel this is a good distinction to put on this type of cache and would like to see it used more here in Michigan. Please be respectful of the area, and observe their rules and posted hours, Michigan law states that you are only permitted to visit cemeteries dawn to dusk through out the state unless posted.

Just stopping in to log the cache would be doing yourself an injustice. The cemetery, and its counterpart accross the street, are filled with beautiful grave markers that span over 100 years. St. Mary's parish was established in 1875 and has served the Anchor Bay community ever since. The cemetery's war memorial was dedicated in 1949 and additional land was purchased to ensure the cemetery would meet the needs of parishoners.

Perhaps the most unusual burial was in 1926. When work was started on a foundation of a new school, the remains of a young man unearthed. The man had disappeared over thirty years earlier after a scuffle outside a local watering hole.

If you are the FTF, enjoy a cup of joe or soda on me.

Congratulations to TeamLegend4 on being the FTF. I hope you could share that soda/coffee. NOTE to Team Namthcoff: I feel your "pain"
