Geocache Description:

Hidden on top of a large rocky out crop.

Travel Travelling to this area is on dirt roads which during the dry season is only suitable for 4wd vehicles. Can be reached by walking for 2.5 hrs or a 10 min rocky drive. A $15 fee is required to enter this area from Mt Ive Station - it will also entitle you to look at some other great natural attractions in the vicinity (the Managers of the station are well aware of the cache and can provide a mud map to the other attractions). The cache container is a one small lunch box containing a note book and pencil, a sticker, a peg, a pair of scissors & Travel bug Mers Racer # 4 MOUNT IVE STATION Mount Ive Station is in the heart of the Gawler Rangers 200k west of Pt Augusta. The road to Mt Ive is dirt with lots of bull dust holes. Mount Ive Station has a range of accommodation. From Stone rooms which has 1-3 beds per room, Shearers Quarters and powered and un-powered sites. The kitchen is fully equipped and found we did not need to unpack everything to have dinner. The dinning room is well set up with a table tennis table and board games. Great for the kids. They have a basic kiosk and a liquor store. They also sell diesel and unleaded petrol. The drive to Lake Gairdner can be done by 2x4 or 4x4. If you have a 4x4 there are tracks around the station that you can do. They have a track called the flight Path which is worth doing. The cost of this was $30.00. We have been to the Flinders but nothing can compare to the beauty and friendly hospitality we found at Mount Ive Station. We will be returning for the world land speed records at Lake Gairdner next year.
