Nache cache Traditional Cache
The Blorenges: Archived at request of site manager as they've had problems with people accessing the foreshore at this point and they want to close off the track. Understandable. Thanks to all who have visited this cache over the years.

A straightforward cache. Good level gravel paths. Please note: Dogs are only permitted on the footpath around the perimeter of the Reserve, not through the central area. The route is buggy/bicycle/wheelchair friendly up to the last 40ft. There is a £3 charge for the car park.
Your route to this cache will take you through the Newport Wetlands Reserve on the east side of the River Usk. The Usk Powerstation does not sound a likely haven for wildlife, but you may be pleasantly surprised. Its legacy of fuel ash, covering an area of 40 hectares, has been sculpted into reedbeds, grassland and saline lagoons and these provide a wonderfully diverse wildlife habitat. A long list of birds have been seen here including the handsome avocets, herons, wigeon, shovelers, dunlin, cuckoos, little owls, and sparrowhawks. There are also some very confident and cheeky swans which may be a bit scary for young children! During the warmest months the area is home to hundreds of dragonflies, which zoom around the paths like minature helicopters, and many varieties of butterflies.
The new Visitors' Centre was opened in March 2008 and has a very nice café serving teas, coffees, sandwiches, rolls and home-made cakes. You can enjoy refreshments while sitting at the indoor, or outdoor, viewing areas. Alternatively, there are plenty of benches around the Reserve where you can eat your own picnic. From the entrance head across the Reserve towards the sea wall and you'll be rewarded with some lovely views across the River Severn, towards Avonmouth, Weston-Super-Mare and Cardiff.
The Wetlands Car Park at N51°32.778 W2°.57.615 closes around 5pm, or dusk, so check the closing time on the notice when you arrive. There is a £3 charge for the car park by token obtained from the visitor center (cash only). There is also a height/width restriction (roughly 6' x 6') on vehicles entering the car park. If you intend to visit in the evening when the carpark is closed, there are plenty of places where you can pull onto the grass verges off the road.
Further details about this area can be found at Gwent Levels The cache site is down a steep path that can be slippery when wet.
