You probably won't get it if your not a hockey fan, but Jason Pominville 
(#29), AKA Pommer the Bomber, is a young right-winger for the playoff bound(?) Buffalo Sabres. It was the Sabre's animated play-by-play announcer, Rick Jeanneret, that affectionately coined the term 'Welcome to Pominville!' when ever the talented forward scored this season. And, in fact, would claim the population had just gone up by one each time. You've heard of Jeanneret, he's the guy that also coined 'La-la-la-la-Lafonte!' and 'Where mama hides the cookies!'. If you've never heard him call a game in his 34 years with the Sabres, just tune in to an upcoming playoff game on TV or radio, he's very entertaining.
Being a huge fan, I caught most games on the tube last year and each time he'd score I'd hearing him scream that and think about this cache placement. Well, here it is and just in time for the playoffs too. I figured this spot would be the most logical place to des
ignate the ficticious township. The location that we happily discovered for this 'village square' is actually a very scenically landscaped courtyard area right down town at the HSBC Arena. AND would you believe this spot even has a nice water feature nearby. yeah, a babbeling brook just feet away! There was nobody around when we placed it, but be wary of muggles. Finding this cache will not be easy during games and other events, but can be done if in stealth mode. The population can swell by tens of thousands, all within a tenth of a mile or so. The reception was pretty erratic in there, so we dropped a huge hint below so as not to draw too much attention to the cache. If you don't think you can get it without being seen, please do not attempt it. You will not need to leave to sidewalk.
This is just a small tribute to WNY's beloved Sabre's hockey team. They just came off their best season in team history. Just a few years ago during the Aldephia fiasco, the
team went into bankruptcy and were almost forced to leave town. It was Tom Golisano that purchased the team and not only brought them into the black, but helped create to best hockey team in the NHL. In fact, the team recently won the President's cup this season, awarded to the team with the best record in the entire league. which makes them the top seed in the Eastern Conference in the upcoming playoffs. They also set the team franchise record for most wins in a season, won their first 10 games (a league record), scored the most goals (only team over 300) and were recently polled to be the most valuable sports team to ANY community in the country. They did all this while selling out every single game at HSBC Arena this season, so forget about getting a ticket for the post season. Sorry, would have liked to, but no will-call for FTF.
