[DEU] Stromatolithen gehören zu den ältesten Fossilien auf der Erde. Erbaut wurden sie von Mikroorganismen. Sie haben durch Photosynthese die Uratmosphäre mit Sauerstoff angereichert. Stromatolithen sind Sedimentgesteine aus sehr feinschichtigem Kalk. Sie ähneln einem Blumenkohl. Sie künden vom komplexen Leben vor Milliarden Jahren. Heute findet man Stromatolithen in Bereichen mit erhöhtem Salzgehalt (Salz- und Sodaseen).

[ENG] Stromatalites are one of the oldest fossils on earth. They were built by micro organisms. They enriched the atmosphere with oxygen by photosynthesis. Stromatalites are sedimentary rocks from a very purified layer of lime. They resemble a cauliflower. They tell of the complex life billions of years ago. Today one finds stromatalites within ranges of increased saltmixes (salt and soda lakes).
