Geocache Description:

Simple roadside cache at important South Canterbury memorial.

This cache is placed at the site where James Mackenzie (the infamous sheep rustler who had the authorities puzzled as to how he hid so well) stole his last lot of sheep on March 1, 1885 (from the Rhodes brothers). He was pursued from here and, seventeen days later, was caught (near GC3719) with the sheep in the Pass that now holds his name.

Cache a small container just within the small reserve where three cabbage trunks meet. Cache originally contained:

Logbook
Tebby bear
Georgie pie toy
Clinique pencil sharpener
