Hvalstrand Bad Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

cervisvenator: Hi

While I feel that Geocaching.com should hold the location for the cache owner and block other cachers from placing a cache in the area around this cache for a reasonable amount of time, we can’t do so forever.

Nothing seems to happen with this cache listing, so it is now archived, so that someone else can place a cache in the area, and geocachers can once again enjoy visiting this location. Also, if it hasn’t been done already, please pick up any remaining cache bits as soon as possible.

If the owner wants it reopened, send me an e-mail and I’ll be happy to unarchive the cache listing if it still satisfies the requirement/guidelines.

(This reviewer note is in English so non-Norwegian cache owners, geocachers and cache reviewers can understand what it says.)

Thanks for your understanding,

Geocache Description:

Hvalstrand Bad, Asker Funkis
Hvalstrand Bad Funkis

Norsk:

English:
In his construction of Hvalstrand Bad in 1934, architect Andre Peters reveals his great admiration of the swiss/french architect Le Corbusier and his new and fashionable style. The place was complete with diving towers, sea bath access, slides, beach play activities for children and a restaurant. The restaurant, inspired by functionalism, is a totally unique functional building, with an almost organic form, untouched by symmetry. That Peters opened the whole round facade out towards the trees, strand and sea with enormous steel mounted windows was sensational in itself. It makes the restaurant completely see-through, you are outside when inside and visa versa.

In the mid-1990's, after long discussions, the building and its surroundings became protected. An extensive plan for rehabilitation began, but it was only when a new company, came into the picture with creative plans, did the municipality step up a gear. Today, Hvalstrand Bad is once again ready to welcome you to enjoy the good life of sea and sand.

The facilities are very popular, so one can expect lots of people in the area when the weather is nice.
