A nice stroll along Cottonwood Creek in the Military Reserve
This area is one of my favorite places for a hike or a pedal. Cottonwood Creek drains an 8000 acre watershed of the Boise foothills, runs through flumes and pipes through town and drops into the Boise river in Julia Davis Park. Park at the lower trailhead off of Mtn. Cove Rd. (43 37.200, 116 10.978) The cache is about .64 miles from there. You can make a nice loop up the north side of the creek, across the culvert, and back down the south side. The cache is a short distance from the upper culvert. The north side trail (Toll Road, 27A) is flat, wide & smooth, an easy bike ride; the south trail (Cottonwood Creek Trail, 27) is narrow, and rougher and not recommended for kids on bikes or inexperienced bike riders. But it's all a nice easy hike.
