CVG Travel Bug and Coin Motel Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Bluegrass Reviewer: Greetings from Geocaching.com,

This cache has been archived as it has been determined that this cache was hidden on airport property unbeknownst to the hider and to the reviewers. We would like to request a link to the GIS Map for Boone county mentioned in the cache owners log.

Geocaching.com strives to follow all local laws and easement jurisdictions. Look at the guidelines: http://www.geocaching.com/about/guidelines.aspx#offlimit

"By submitting a cache listing, you assure us that you have adequate permission to hide your cache in the selected location. However, if we see a cache description that mentions ignoring "No Trespassing" signs (or any other obvious issues), your listing may be immediately archived. We also assume that your cache placement complies with all applicable laws. If an obvious legal issue is present, or is brought to our attention, your listing may be immediately archived."

We will be archiving this geocache and request that the cache owner not attempt to replace this cache with a one mile of the boundary of the airport. It is clear that the CVG Authorities do not care to have a geocache near the airport under any circumstances.

Sincerely,

Geocache Description:

In my travels, I have noted that there are many travel bug motels not far from an airport. This cache adds CVG (Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport) to the list.

(The following description was edited 19 Oct 2007.)

The original cache contained 8 travel bugs/geocoins. In addition three items are to be left in the cache: the boilerplate description of caches, the log, and the disposable flash camera. Feel free to exchange Travel Bugs or geocoins. However over the past few months the number of trackable items has decreased to one. This makes for a very lonely motel. From now on, please don't take more TB's or geocoins than you leave until the count reaches four or more.

Take a picture of yourself. After all 27 are taken, I'll replace the camera and publish the pics. The first batch are now posted on this page. Check to see if your's is here. If you want to send a note to me identifying which one you took, I'll modify the description of the photo. Several pics were of such low quality that they weren't posted. Please use the flash or be in bright sunlight when you click.

I wanted to plant the cache on CVG property, but discovered that geocaching rules forbid caches within airport boundaries. It would be cool for geocachers with a layover to be able to get to the cache by walking, but I'm afraid they'll need a bike in their carry-on luggage. Oh, of course the joggers could make it to the cache without raising much of a sweat.

A nearby destination of several geocachers has been the improbable "Answers in Genesis" pseudo museum. Welcome.
