The cords are for the parking, not the final cache location.
A circular country walk of approx. two miles around the outskirts of Herstmonceux Castle along public foot/bridle paths with no styles, just gates. Dogs friendly
NB. Parents be aware. Between cords C and D the route can take you alongside an unfenced busy road for a few metres. The footpath then re-starts and runs parallel with the road. Recently the Observatory have been leaving a gate open so you can avoid walking beside the road.
Herstmonceux Castle was originally built in 1440AD and although it has a moat it looks more like a mansion that a traditional castle. Used by the Royal Greenwich Observatory between 1948 and 1990 it is currently an International Study centre, part of Queens University, Ontario, Canada. The grounds and gardens are open to the public but guided tours of the castle are by appointment only.
The telescopes are now part of The Observatory Science Centre which costs but is a great educational/fun day out for the kids (obligatory school trip if they live in the area)
The cache is a 1.5 litre food container, with a logbook, pen/cil, and a small selection of swapsies.
Driving:
Whilst travelling on the A271 take the road at Lime Cross (between Herstmonceux and Windmill Hill) towards Flowers Green. Continue on the road until you come to the All Saints Church.
Park at the roadside by the church around N50 52.077 E000 20.036 and grab the first clue nearby.
A = N50 52.077 E000 20.021 The 3rd from last digit of the Parish Priests telephone number.
Take the bridlepath to the South East.
B = The number of green domes on the main Herstmonceux Observatory Science Centre building that can be seen on the way to C below.
C = N50 52.102 E000 20.938 The distance in miles to Pevensey from this point.
D = N50 52.332 E000 20.948 The number of letters that are vowels on the road sign you can see from here.

F= N50 52.259 E000 20.056 The number below the anchor sign.

H = F – (A + D)
I = D + F
J = C - A
