Splinterville - the Rocket's Red Glare Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

40: Time to play taps. The red flames beat the red glare. This was the second to last of the Splinterville caches left. Now only "Defenders of Splinterville" stands alone - or not 😛. -40-

Geocache Description:

Welcome to Splinterville. Parking is available at the Mather Regional Park located at N38 33.421 W121 15.575. Bring good shoes and some water during your adventures.

The “Splinter Group” has found a nice area for you to stretch your legs and see some wildlife.

I have been carrying around this container looking for the perfect hiding spots for 3 years and I finally found it. I picked up this cache at an aerospace propulsion conference and trade show. Some of the propulsion companies (including mine) also make or use ordnances and explosives. To store the ordnances, the companies have to make bunkers to keep an inadvertent explosion from destroying everything. If you look to the south you can see an example of an ordnance bunker from when this area was part of Mather AFB.

Hopefully you don't see any red glare coming from the south while you are caching!

Like most of the area caches please be careful of our slithery friends and the rest of the natural bugaboos like ticks. During our adventures we saw pheasants, ducks, geese, turkeys (had a few in the crowd), a swan, and even crazy simian.

As always, Enjoy!
