This small geocache is located near a dinosaur-sized building built in 1948. About a decade ago, the Burlington Industries Dyeing and Finishing Plant closed its doors for good.
In its heyday, the plant ran continuously with 7 shifts. The huge employee influx required a stop light in front of the building. 3 million gallons of water a day was pumped from the Neuse River for plant operations. A complete water treatment facility prepped the water for plant use, and then cleaned it up to return to the river.
As more and more fabric manufacturing went overseas, business declined. Currently the building contains a very efficient DMV facility as well as a Body Shop assembly center.
