Ghost

*This story is not meant to be read by small children as it might scare them*
This is by far the most well known alleged haunted location in Amarillo. The story that follows seems to be very far fetched, almost to the point of being ridiculous, but you know how kids are with their ghost stories, the more unlikely the better. The story goes that back in the heat of the civil rights movement this elementary school was segregated and only African American children were allowed to attend. As luck would have it the janitor was a White Supremacist and a member of the KKK. Well late one afternoon he abducted 4 little boys from the school and murdered them in the Boiler room. Realizing what he had done he went to the roof, climbed the large smoke stack, and jumped to his death. The legend goes that if you are there at night you can hear the screams of the four boys, witnesses also report seeing a red ball bouncing down the hall leading to the boiler room. Car stereos seem to have a mind of their own in this area and will turn themselves on and off, as well as up and down. And if you are lucky and happen to drive by on the anniversary of the killings you can see the ghost of the janitor leaping from the top of the smoke stack to his death.

Please remember these are all in good fun, and are just ghost stories, please don’t write me to refute them. Also be advised I wouldn’t go finding this one at night, not because of the haunting, but because of the heavy police presence in this area. Juvenile delinquents are constantly trying to break into this school at night just to see if the legend is real. So this park is patrolled quite frequently. The cache is actually located just off the school property though.
