On Little Fraser Island, a nice place to camp or hang out on a
sunny day.
Come by kayak, or canoe, or houseboat, but don't try to come on
foot. Spend some time along the shoreline watching the heron, loons
and Osprey (there's a wonderful nest on the island). Or try to
catch a Muskie.
A new cache has been placed (August 9, 2005) in a different
location from before so remember to update your coordinates if this
is a second visit. The cache is a 4 inch round tin so only good for
small items. It contains some fishing lures, floats, a 1967 Bass
Fisherman belt buckle, some Get Out of Hell Free cards and a key
chain light.
A good place to launch is the public park by the falls at 44°
33.334'N 78° 12.023'W. Boats can be rented at Burleigh Lodge on the
other side of the falls.
There is some poison ivy on the island, so take a little care with
pets and children.
