This cache is located in Matthews/Winters Park, on the lower Red Rocks trail. Terrain is rocky and the trail has some ups and downs, elevation gain is minimal. Elevation at cache 6430'. Hiking boots or good tennis shoes recommended. Very popular mountain bike area.
Cache is less than 50' off the trail, but out of view, just around the corner of a large rock. Container is now a average sized ammo box well camoed.
Small trade items, log book and new bandanas. Banadas being a crucial item in any hikers pack and not just to wipe the sweat from your face, I thought I would do a bandana cache.
Please include in your log a creative use you have found for the humble bandana.
One of my favorite hikes for early in the season. Go early or around dusk for best wildlife viewing. I saw a small herd of mule deer the day I placed the cache. The hike can be done as a loop, if you continue on from the cache and head up and west at the junction to Red Rocks Park. The upper plateau offers some great views of Denver. Best parking is at N39 41.736 W105 12.230
