The Rousham Eyecatcher was built as part of the Rousham House gardens, designed to draw the visitors eye to the wider landscape. The folly is one of the earliest of it's kind, a structure built to appear as a ruin, a "sham". It was built by Willaim Kent in 1738 as part of the gardens redesign.

The cache is a simple tradition, placed on the hill above the Eyecatcher. On the walk to the location Rousham house can be seen in Valley below.
