Geocache Description:

This cache is located at the Schodack Island State Park, off of NYS Route 9J, just south of the Village of Castleton. Park hours vary by season, please visit this Schodack Island State Park website link for more information.

About the Park:
Schodack Island State Park sits off the eastern shore of the Hudson River just south of Albany. Approximately seven miles of Hudson River and Schodack Creek shoreline bound the 1,052-acre site. A day-use facility, the park has been designated a State Estuary, and a portion of the park shelters a Bird Conservation Area (BCA) that is home to bald eagles, cerulean warblers and blue herons that nest in the cottonwood trees. In addition, eight miles of multi-use trails wind through a variety of ecological communities, and the park has an improved bike trail. The park also includes a boat launch, a pavilion with picnic tables, and public restroom facilities. Interpretive signage highlights the park's historic and environmental significance.

About the cache:
The cache is an easy find and a fairly short hike. This is a good one for the kids to try or to do while trying the others in the park. You are looking for a 50 cal ammo can.

The cache has been granted the required permit from the NYS Park Manager (Permit No. 07-003). FTF prize for the lucky cacher!
