This cache was originally a Traditional and was called Barwon Bonanza (Heelers 2) and placed by Dan, Nell, Frank & The Heelers way back on 17th June 2001.
The old cache: GCCA4 can still be viewed as it is archived but makes interesting reading. Muzza reported it missing June 19th 2002.
I will include a list of all previous finders and dates in the cache which will be in a new location as the old one is not suitable for a cache anymore, but you will need to go to the original coordinates to find part of the new cache coordinates.
If you need a hint, read muzza’s log dated June 19, 2002 in the archived logs using GCCA4.
YOU SHOULD PASS THE AREA WHERE THE BIRD HIDE SIGN USED TO BE. CAREFUL YOU DON’T TRIP OVER THEM. IF YOU COUNT THEM THEY WILL TALLY WITH THE FIRST NUMBER OF YOUR DISTANCE FROM THE COLOURED SIGN.
To find WPT2 you will need to work out a distance and a bearing and then project a waypoint to a location inside the “Yollinko Wetlands” which is West of of the old bird hide and then look for four numbers which are on something that was retired in February 1966 and is no longer used.
OK Let’s start with the three words below.
B - I - R - D --- O- B - S - E -R - V - A -T -I -O - N --- H- I - D - E.
THE DISTANCE.
(16th Letter) =
( 6th Letter) =
= ●
(27th Letter) =0
(First letter + 11th letter) =
CHECK SUM = 13
THE BEARING
(First Letter) =
(2nd Letter – 1st Letter) =
(19th Letter) =
= ●
(16th Letter) =
CHECK SUM = 22
Now using the cache coordinates project a waypoint USING THE PROJECTION IN THE TOOLBOX and go to WPT2 which is inside the ‘Yollinko Wetlands”.
As stated before at WPT2 you have to find a small object with four numbers on it and we will call them K. L. M. P.
It has been changed because the old gum dropped the branch where the last object was attached to but now it is sitting on the ground at the end of another fallen large branch.
BE VERY CAREFUL WHILE IN THIS AREA AS THESE OLD GUMS HAVE A BAD HABIT OF DROPPING BRANCHES.
Please answer the following questions.
KL = AB = _ _
Again just checking.
L + K = FG or _ _
K+M = D or _
You now have all the numbers that will enable you to find GZ.
All that remains for you to do is go to the original cache site (S 38 10.054 E 144 19.742) and find the means to convert your answers into the GZ coordinates which are NOW ATTACHED TO A TREE close by.
Good Luck.
You will have to leave the board walk to locate the old cache site.
(GZ).Is close by.
If you are very quiet you may see one of the Water Rats that live in this area. They are bigger than ordinary rats and swim extremely well.
