Geocache Description:

Close to well used path

This lake is one of many formed after gravel extraction, along the Ouse Valley. Increasingly such lakes, if not suitable for water sports, are modified in such a way that they become havens for wildlife. The Environment Agency and St Ives Angling Club undertook a project to install ten floating `eco-islands' on Tri Cor lakes.
The islands provide an underwater refuge for fish, and additional vegetation growth will create a diverse habitat for nesting birds, dragonflies and amphibians.
The lake that the cache overlooks is the one used by the sailing club but the route to it passes by the end of tricor and similar projects can be seen alongside other local caches such as 'Moore of a View' and 'a little of what you Fensee'
The area around here is well used by anglers and dog walkers alike evidenced by the path network.
