Geocache Description:

Car park opposite the Church. Ground is an uneven wooded area with two styles. Suitable for dogs and children. No good for bikes and wheelchairs. The signal is sometimes wild because of the trees. Under an hour to complete.

This is a lovely short, almost circular, walk around Ottershaw Chase an area of woodland now owned by Runnymead Borough Council.

The coordinates are for Christ Church and there is a car park opposite which is free.

Christ Church Ottershaw was built through the benevolance of Sir Thomas Edward Colebrooke owner of Ottershaw Park 1859 - 1883. It was designed by Sir Gilbert Scott and was consecrated in 1864.

You will pass through the old entrance to Ottershaw Park Estate known as The North Lodges. These are 2 white houses aside 2 large iron gates.

In 1945 this area was used by the army for parking their vehicles. To prevent lorries from becoming bogged down the ground was covered with rubble cleared from bombed areas of London. The material poisoned the ground and is thought to have eventually killed many trees. Evidence of the rubble can be seen in the woods in Ottershaw Chase.

If you are lucky you may even seem some deer strolling around.

Your GPS may play up a bit through the wooded area but shouldn't hinder your clue finding.
