Geocache Description:

A Pink Floyd series cache!

This area is FREE to visit off season, but State Park Fees apply between Memorial Day thru Labor Day.

Cache #4 in the Pink Floyd series is one of my favorites and also one of the saddest for me, for a few reasons.

First, Ummagumma (pronounced OOOOO-mah-GOOOOO-mah) is fun to say. LOL It was the first Pink Floyd album to break into the U.S. top 100, at number 74.

Second, I LOVE double albums! Ummagumma did not disappoint, considering that the musical playtime was 86 minutes.

Third, there is a song on this particular album that has a name like no other title I have ever heard: "Several Species of Small Furry Animals Gathered Together in a Cave and Grooving with a Pict". No, I'm not making that up! HAHAHA

Lastly, the sad part of this album is that it was recorded without Syd Barrett. Syd was replaced by legendary guitar player/singer/songwriter David Gilmour permanently for reasons that I will get into in a future cache in this series. While Syd's days with Pink Floyd were short, his legacy as the founder of the best psychedelic band in history still remains.

The song "Astonomy Domine" is included on this abum, that was written by Syd Barrett, but was released on their first album, The Pipers At the Gates of Dawn. This song includes hints for the location of this cache!

It starts:

Lime and limpid green, a second scene
A fight between the blue you once knew
Floating down, the sound resounds
Around the icy waters underground.

You are looking for a small plastic container with a PINK lid. There is a log file, a pencil, geocaching instructions for newbies, and room for small trade items.

Cache Permit Number 012

This is a decent length hike. You can start at the BEACH, but the walk is still quite the ways, which is why I upgraded this to a "3". The walk is on flat, well- groomed paths. The views are awesome!

There is a diabetes TB for FTF, and as always, a Dewski poker chip to start things off.
NEW CLUE AS OF APRIL 29, 2009!
