The Hyatt
Regency Travel Bug Hotel.
We are located within a few short miles
of Hwy 26, Hwy 36 and Hwy 11E. This is an easy stop for everyone,
especially those traveling through the state and wish to drop off
or pick up traveling bugs or geocoins. Our luxurious suites are big
enough to accommodate TB’s of almost every size as they are
approximately 10”X9”X13”. We realize that there are TB’s on the
road that are too big to be dropped off just anywhere. We have 5 of
these spacious suites available at all times. Our fine
establishment is waterfront and constructed on the banks
overlooking knob creek. When visiting the hotel, please go to suite
#5 (far right suite) as this is the TB office. Here in the office
you will find a drawer that contains the log book. Please sign TB’s
in and out with name and date. In the office you will also find
that the hotel provides a complimentary supply of Ziploc bags and
rubber bands so if your bugs bag is tattered and torn then help
yourself to a replacement. Two jumbo swag bags are inside the
office suite for trading so bring some items with you.
Before opening the Hyatt Regency Travel Bug Hotel, I considered
many issues facing TB Hotels. The first issue pertains to stocking
TB’s in the hotel. I cannot guarantee that there will always be
TB’s staying here. I would like to see the cache stay stocked but
it is unlikely. We want to have bugs stay with us for short stays
but they need to keep moving along their journey. The hotel
management does ask that individual cachers do not completely wipe
out the TB guests. If you want to take a bug , and can move it
along quickly, then take it. If you can leave a bug or two then
please do so. We do not welcome those who “hog” an areas TB
population. Discovering and Moving bugs should be shared by all and
I hope this can happen here. The second issue was location and
security. Many times a large container for a TB hotel either has to
be far out of the way for added security or it has to be smaller
and in unsecure areas to make it more accessible. We have remedied
that problem here at the Hyatt. Our hotel is very large and it is
in a secure location. The hotel is on private property and in a
prime location near several highways. Permission has been granted
for this cache placement and the owners and employees know of its
existence. YOUR BEST STEALTH IS NOT REQUIRED. Cache is handicapped
accessible (about 10 feet from level pavement in level grass area.
One requirement that I have is that you respect the business that
has allowed this cache and park in a designated spot in the parking
lot...do not park near the cache as you will interfere with ongoing
business. DO NOT PARK ON OR NEAR THE GRASS! This cache is available
at all times and open 24 hours. As with most places, if you are in
this empty parking lot after dark, you have a good chance of being
questioned by the authorities (it has happened to me before). All
you need to do is to explain your activities and to tell them that
YOU HAVE PERMISSION TO BE ON THE PREMESIS FOR A GAMING ACTIVITY.
The third issue is security from the general public, accidental
discovery, and mugglings. Cache being on private property keeps the
general public away. Accidental discovery and mugglings are also
not an issue because the container is anchored and the doors
padlocked. You must have a key to gain entry to any of the suites.
Now that you know that the suites are padlocked, this brings me to
my next bit if information. You can find the key to the hotel doors
located in a magnetic key holder underneath the hotel. Please
remember to replace and rehide the key holder. Also please relock
all hotel doors before leaving. Suite 3 will be the only suite
unavailable to finders and is reserved as a V.I.B. Lounge (Very
Important Bug) and maintenance area.
We welcome all comments and suggestion that you feel might make
this a “Premier TB Hotel”. The hotel has a flat top that is about
waist high. It is a perfect place to lay out travel bugs for
pictures and discovery. Feel free to drop by and discover bugs and
coins that are staying here. We hope that many bugs will stay with
us and travel through the area. If you have a traveling bug that is
too large to fit inside one of our rooms then please email me for
room reservations and I will make sure that we can accommodate it
either with another container or I will take it home with me. There
is no need for any TB to be a lost wayward soul with nowhere to go.
The hotel management want to take this time to thank you for your
patronage and happy caching.
