I've looked up at this mountain everyday as I've driven home
from work and kept thinking it needs a cache on top of it. After a
little research, I found out it has a name - Toad Head. Pretty cool
name for a mountain if you ask me! This is 1 of 3 in the "Toad"
series of caches that I placed up there. Be sure to grab the other
two as well:
The key to this one is approach. I found the easiest route up
was Buckley Draw, but there are certainly other ways to get there.
Once you're near the cache, you'll find there is only one direction
from which you can actually get to it. Please don't attempt to
climb up any cliffs. It's definitely not necessary and extremely
dangerous. Also, don't attempt a direct route down the cliffs from
this one to Toad Back. See the hint in Toad Back for how to
approach it from this one.
Give yourself plenty of time to find the series of caches
up there. Depending on the shape you're in, it could take you
anywhere from 2-4 hours round trip. Be sure to take plenty of
water. You'll need it due to the strenuousness of the hike.
If you're interested, I found some cool
fossils in the rock near the top at N 40 13.157 W 111
36.504.
Don't forget to have fun. Good luck!
