A quick cache, but this location is beautiful so why not explore further once you have found the prize!
Look out for Stane Street running north to south through the wood - this Roman road once connected London with Chichester. Stane is an old spelling of "stone", commonly used to differentiate paved Roman roads from muddy native trackways. Roe and Fallow deer are often seen in the wood. Butterflies can also be seen flying in the late spring and summer.
Not wheelchair or pushchair friendly. Can be muddy in winter. Dogs allowed. Picnic tables provided.
