Geocache Description:

There is a parking area near the cache.

This cache is the first in a series. This series of caches will take you on a tour around this beatiful county of ours. All of the caches in this series will be located on or near a bridge in Madison County. The original purpose of this bridge was to provide access across the Jefferson River for the Mayflower Mine which is located south of here and was established around the 1890s. The current bridge is a concrete and steel structure. The original bridge I assume was a log or timber structure of which I could not find any photos or much information about. The bridge is a very popular place in the summer months with the local teenagers as a swimming hole. There is also a fishing access with a boat launch giving access to the Jefferson River for fishermen and floaters. If you know of any history or have any photos of this brige or any others in its place I would love to see them posted on this page. Please watch for muggles in this area especially in the summer months. We loaded this large plastic jug with some great swag and would ask that you please keep that up by trading fair or not trading at all. Items included in the original cache are Fish Cards, Gel Pen, Blue Mini Sharpie, Kids Rain Poncho, Caribeaner, Mini Salt & Pepper Shaker, Fish Pen, Thermometer Compass, Geocache Magnet and last but not least an oficial FTF pin. Thanks and enjoy the bridge.
