This cache is hidden along a forested trail in Ottawa's West End in an area formerly and still informally known as Nepean. It is a multi-waypoint cache which requires you to make two projections. Before reading any further, please click on the Related Web Page link at the top of the this page.
This cache will take you on a walk along a trail winding into the woods of a suburban forest. It is located in Ben Franklin Park at the intersection of Hunt Club Road and Knoxdale in the former City of Nepean. Ben Franklin was the mayor of Nepean until ill health prompted an earlier than expected retirement. Under his reign as the city`s mayor, accurate forecasting(careful projections), and wise decision-making(good navigation) led to healthy reserves(deep pockets) and overall success. May you enjoy the same.
Your search begins at a gateway to a paved trail that winds past a fieldhouse, between soccer fields, and into the woods. Proceed to the starting coordinates on this page(the gateway) and begin by making your first projection. On a True North bearing of 111 degrees, project a waypoint at a distance of .24km(240 metres).
Next follow the paved trail to this projected waypoint. You should now be located at a point along the trail where the pavement changes to stonedust. From this location on a True North bearing of 205 degrees, make a second projection of 60 metres.
Continue along the trail to this second projection, look to the East, and you should be able to see a tree which holds Ben's Secret Reserve. As this cache is located in a very accessible area, observe the cardinal rule - LOOK BOTH WAYS BEFORE CACHING!! To maintain the theme of good fiscal management and due to the small size of the cache container, please limit your trades to coins and currency or very small items. Small travellers are wecomed.
