Geocache Description:

This cache is in Davidson-Arabia Mountain Nature Preserve. It is
a 35mm film container. Bring your own pencil and enter only your
geonick on the log. Be sure to replace the container just the way
you found it.

The cache container is located about 25 feet off the Arabia
Mountain Bike Trail and is clearly visible. It is not on the
ground, so there is no need to spend time poking around on the
ground. Tree cover may reduce your satelite reception accuracy.
This cache may pose a challenge to some, but experienced cachers
should be able to figure it out.

Nearest parking for the cache is the newly opened (June 07)
Browns Mill Road Trailhead Parking at N33 38.914 W084 08.844. The
cache is only a little over 100 yards from the parking lot. You can
download a bike path map at this link: (visit link)

The parking lot pavement is water permeable, allowing rainfall
to percolate back into the ground to recharge the ground water
table rather than running off. It demonstrates concern for proper
management of our water resources by the the PATH Foundation and
Arabia Mountain Nature Preserve.

As you travel south from the cache, the bike path parallels
Highway 212. Beyond the chain link fence next to the bike path is
the Pole Bridge Creek Advanced Wastewater Treatment Plant, built in
1973 and upgraded in 1991 to provide for a major biosolids (sludge)
reuse program. The sludge is placed on a 550 acre hay field
adjacent to the treatment plant. The hayfield, which you can see
from the bike path, produces about 1,500 tons of hay each year. The
hay is primarily used for animal feed. Even the elephants at Zoo
Atlanta benefit from it. By using this land application program,
the county has saved 129,000 cubic yards of landfill space and many
thousands of dollars.

The Nature Preserve, like other Georgia woodlands, has ticks during all but the winter season. Take precautions that include wearing a hat, long sleeve shirt, and long pants with legs tucked into socks. Wear light colored clothing for ease of spotting ticks that are the size of a pin head. Use bug spray with the chemical DEET and especially spray around the ankle area. Here is a link to tick prevention measures (visit link)
