A walk over peat-bog, wellingtons are a must in wet weather, although being peat-bog, it's always wet. Take care if you are not on the path, and beware of deep mud, especially near the lochan.
THIS CACHE WAS A MULTI BUT HAS NOW BEEN CHANGED TO A REGULAR CACHE. I CANNOT CHANGE THE CACHE TYPE. It's said that the name "Blawhorn Moss" comes from many years ago, when a watcher stationed on this high ground could observe coaches coming from Glasgow or Edinburgh and blow a horn, which would alert the workers at the Coaching Inn, allowing them to prepare for the coaches arrival. The moss itself is owned by Scottish Natural Heritage, and is one of the few rain fed peat-bogs in the central belt. A home to a variety of plant, bird and animal life, including Short Eared Owls, Britain's only daytime hunting owl. There are some excellent views from here, you can see the Pentlands, Tinto, and the Cant Hills, all of which have caches to visit.
