Geocache Description:

The ExploreCorps, in conjunction with the US Army Corps of Engineers would like to invite you to a meet, greet and swap /scavenger hunt event at Hop Brook Lake in Middlebury, CT. As part of “Connecticut Trails Day”, the event will be held rain or shine on June 2nd from 9:00 am – 2:00 pm at the Pines Shelter in the park. On-site registration is not mandatory, but is appreciated (mostly for head-count purposes).

6 new caches hidden throughout the park will be made available at 9:00am the morning of the 2nd. There will be a kid’s cache (“Jr Cache and Stash”), a TB hotel (“TB Hop & Drop”), a micro (“a Small Spill”), a multi-cache (“Old Rt. 63”, a doggy cache (“Zeus’ Doggy Delight”) and a regular cache (“Over/Under”). There is already another cache that is hidden in the park (“Hop Along Cachedy”), as well as some letterboxes (we believe they are still around). There is also another cache on the opposite side of the park (“Hop To It”) that is hidden in a nice spot and is not very hard to get to.

Scavenger hunts will also be available, with prizes awarded to children and adults who find all of the caches in the park and to scavenger hunt finishers. (Scavenger hunt is geared mostly toward children.)

Non-alcoholic refreshments will be available as well as hot dogs, hamburgers and chips (while supplies last). If you wish to bring alcoholic beverages, you may (no kegs), but we ask that you please remember that this is a family geared event.

The 536-acre Hop Brook Lake Recreation Area hosts a 21-acre recreational lake, over 40 picnic tables and grills, 4 picnic shelters, 3 volleyball courts, a 535 ft long swimming beach, approximately 25 acres of lawn area and 7-1/2 miles of trails for public use. Three public restrooms are situated throughout the park. Pets are welcome, but must be on a leash under 6 ft in length and picked up after. Dog poop bag dispensers are located throughout the park. The facility encourages a carry-in/carry-out policy, however, dumpsters are available for park generated litter.

Further information may be obtained through the following website: (visit link)
or by calling the Hop Brook Lake Project Office at 203.729.8840 and dialing extensions x379 or x370.

We can’t wait to meet everybody, hope to see you all there!!!!
