Geocache Description:

The posted coordinates are not the location of the cache.

It is an easy walk to the cache. There is some underbrush, including a few thorns, at the last 3 waypoints (including the final location). The cache is a medium-size plastic jar. For FTF, there's a gift certificate for BJ's coffee in Molalla, and some other stuff.

This cache represents a part of our life journey. This area provides a number of easy walks, kindly allowed by the owner. It’s popular with equestrians as well as foot-traffic – motorized vehicles are not allowed. We used to come here some mornings to let the solitude soak in. Whether it is in the heat of the summer, or the mists and drizzles of spring or fall, you are protected. In fact, the realization of this is a part of the growth we have been going through – sanctuaries and recharging allow us to become open to new opportunities; with solitude, and the quiet presence of a good friend, we can more boldly move in new directions. As Robert Frost wrote:

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I--
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

There is a gate at N45° 12.920 W122° 31.689; this is where you’ll start. There is a little parking on either side of the gate, enough for a few cars (or a couple horse trailers, which you might meet!).

At the posted coordinates, you’ll get the instructions for the next waypoint. Which choice will you make?

With the correct choice, you will end up at waypoint 1, a grassy turnaround, just short of the end of the road. Seasonally, there are bee hives set up at the end of the road. We used to walk between the hives to the top of a steep slope, overlooking the canyon. The smell of the hives is like mead. The view is mostly gone now, because the trees are growing well. But you don’t need to go this far. You’re barely out of the woods; turn your back on the bees and go left about 50 feet – you’ll find waypoint 2, with the final coordinates.

This cache is placed on land owned by Port Blakely Tree Farms, who graciously have granted permission to do so.

** Congratulations to Auntie Lu Lu (and Shiloh) for the FTF **
