The Final Mark Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

dsvmusic: Sad to say, looks like someone stole the container. Hiked out to GZ and found a man-made fort near the coordinates with a child’s jacket on the ground. Expanded my search a couple hundred feet and still no dice. It’s time to archive this classic. Thanks to all who hunted it over the years .

Geocache Description:

PARKING IS AT ABOVE COORDINATES

This year will be the 30th anniversary since I first saw Star Wars. This epic saga has grown immeasurably in popularity and complexity since it was first conceived. One of my sons is a HUGE fan and enjoys writing short stories about various characters. I thought it might be fun to make a cache using a couple pages from one of his tales. I hope you enjoy it.

The Final Mark

He sat upon the ledge above the alleyway in the depths of Coruscant, waiting for his mark, when he heard something out of place...Something wrong. He looked down the side streets from his stoop and picked it up, now it was audible...He heard a brash voice speaking.

"You know...If we do this, the Council will be most displeased..."

"I don’t care what the Council has to say! Or even the Order, they are a threat and MUST be dealt with!"

Kerrath tuned them out...by the look of them they were Jedi, but they seemed out of place. He thought to himself..."They're plotting against us, against the whole Mandalorian Race, if I can stop them...I can stop the Jedi resistance on our fleet!" In that fraction of an instant, he sprung, silently from his ledge upon the smaller of the two robed figures. He planted his leg squarely into his back, leveling the other to the ground, and disarming him. The Jedi’s weapon scattered across the floor and came to a rest in a few feet.

Kerrath knew of the Jedi way, and their weapons, and figured to take the Lightsaber would be the best way to kill the other Jedi. He rolled onto the metallic hilt and sprung up, pressing the switch to activate. **Snap-hiss**

The other Jedi stood, confused and stunned, not ready for an assault. In that instant of hesitation Kerrath sprung and met blades with the other. Blows were exchanged back and forth. A parry, a block, a counter strike. It was fluid and quick, seamless and fierce, as if choreographed for months. For a non-Force user, it was the best showing of a Lightsaber duel in the history of the galaxy. In a rush of blows upon his opponent's saber, Kerrath felt his foe's grip fail, and he struck the saber out of his hand. Kerrath swung, striking the Jedi squarely across the cheek.

In an instant his opponent hit the ground. Feeling the rush of victory, he leaned into his opponent and whispered "I am Kerrath Nam, and I will be the last thing you see in your life..."

As the man lay dying, it was best to go and kill the Jedi he had landed upon to initiate the fight, to insure death. Upon turning he was caught off-guard by that man standing and waiting. There was a fierceness in the Jedi’s eyes seldom seen; hatred, pure hatred for another man.

Kerrath was stunned, glued to his position, as his opponent reached out his arm and the wounded Jedi's lightsaber came into his hand. The stoic Jedi paused briefly in the realization that he was to kill the man who killed his best friend.

And in an instant, Kerrath was dead. The greatest assassin to ever live was stabbed by the Saber of Malak, in the Hands of Revan.

Kerrath's last thought upon vanishing into the perils of death was a cryptic one, "Although I am at an end, the Mandalorians will live on...I may have failed, but the galaxy will be Mandalore's!"

Revan understood the reason for the Mandalorian's actions, but he was curious why the Assassin seemed to be clutching his data pad in his time of death. Upon reading the note, he realized that he must prepare for a journey.

NOTE: The container might be large, but there isn't much room for adding stuff, so don't forget to bring a pen or pencil.
