Geocache Description:

Chinese Year of the Pig...American Style
Saturday, July 14th, 2007

2007 is the Chinese Zodiac Year of the Pig. We wanted to celebrate this American-style with our two favorite things...Barbeque and Geocaching!! As the scene for our event we've rented the Plymouth Riverside Park pavilion which is situated right along a lazy bend of the Middle Rouge River in the northeastern 1/2 of the park. With the tall oaks and other tree's providing shade and a large shelter just in-case, we should be quite comfortable rain or shine. The pavilion is also very close to bathrooms and a playscape. We're hoping to showcase Hines Drive park with 42 active caches hidden along it's winding 18 miles.

We rented the pavilion for the whole day. We'll be there early to clean & setup - and of course late to clean up - so everyone is welcome pretty much from sun-up to sun-down. Please feel free to make us your "base of operations" as you cache in Hines Drive throughout the day. Please use the bookmark on this page to see all of the caches already set on Hines Drive, and remember there'll be several new ones on the day of the event.

Also, while we hope everyone who wants to cache will take advantage of the Hines Drive bonanza, we'd also love to have folks just come hang out with us for the day and just visit with friends from all over and have something good to eat. We're doing this to meet new friends and see lots past acquintences too. Our hope is that this is just one big summer geo-family gathering.

We're planning a potluck meal with fresh smoked pulled pork (Pig American Style :-D), an FTF raffle for new caches, a close-by cache course for the kids, and many other fun activities. We have a few things set aside already for a prize table, please feel free to donate to it if you'd like. Please let us know how many children will attend, we can have a separate table for them with more age-appropriate items. There is a horseshoe pit nearby, we'll have our ladder golf game there, and there is room for soccer balls and such, and of course there's the very nearby playscape. Our geocoin for this event is shown below. The cost of the coins will be $9, the proceeds of which used to help cover the cost of the meat for the event.

We'll cover the plates, silverware, & stuff, and of course the pulled pork. If we could get everyone to bring a dish to pass, that'd sure help. To make sure there's variety, we'd like to split it up by team name (it aint perfect but we don't know how else to ask :-D ). If you have a specialty that doesn't fall in your category...by all means we'd love to try it :-D.
