Growing up in Central
Ohio, I was taught that beaver once populated all of Ohio, but that
they had since been hunted to the point that they were only left in
the extreme southern and eastern portions of the state. Over the
past decade, however, beaver have made a roaring come
back.
Now
they are getting their revenge!!! You can find felled trees and
severed vines all around this cache site. In Fall 2006 a local
Worthington paper published an article about a boy scout who was
saving trees along the Olentangy River from beaver. As a part of
his Eagle Scout project, he is surrounding the bases of tasty tree
trunks with wire fencing. While looking for a cache location, I
stumbled upon a tree in the process of being chewed down and
several neighboring trees surrounded with fencing.
These trees are located
at the secondary coordinates (N
40
°
05.062’ W
083
°
02.056’) I am hoping cachers will help document the progress of the
tree getting chomped down by posting pictures of how you find it. I
have posted the first picture as a starting point to track
progress. The secondary coordinates are only about 100’ from the
cache location.
Pictures are not required
to claim the find – it’s just a request.
Have fun!
