This
time the cache is at one (and only one) of seven locations
within this park as listed below. No matter what happens,
Rabbitto will score 4 points. Your starting score is 8 points,
however, each time you search one of the 7 locations, no matter
if your search is successful or not, you lose one point. Thus,
if you find the cache in the first place you look, you will only
lose one point and score 7. If Rabbitto’s Psych is successful
and you search all 7 places before you find the cache, you will
score only 1 point.
At each
of the six ‘false’ locations there is no cache or anything else to
indicate that you have chosen incorrectly.
However
- at all seven locations, instructions to find the alleged cache
are very detailed and if you have chosen correctly, you will have
the cache within your hands within a few seconds. There should be
no need to dismantle everything at each cache site. For the same
reason as above, please leave any site you search, including the
cache location, in exactly the same condition as you find
it.
Each
cache site has specific rules about what constitutes a legitimate
search so be careful when approaching each of those sites lest you
‘search’ by accident. Any tricky stretching of ‘loopholes’ in the
search criteria is also counted as a search.
On
logging, please mention your final score and any thoughts from your
search but don’t give away any hints as to which spots you did or
did not search. Make sure that the next geocacher in has no more
information than you did.
If you
are geocaching with other people, you must either all enter the
park individually to play or play and score together as a group. ie
no watching the other person first.
Most
importantly, win or lose, this is just an opportunity to try
something a little different and have some fun on our caching
journey, so please enjoy the challenge and take any results with a
grain of salt.
The Caches
1. Ground Zero (The listed
co-ordinates)
Just
behind the information sign was the location of the original cache
(Psychology 101). This cache was a 2 litre container but its size
was probably its undoing. To rectify this, we have placed a
magnetic key holder at the base of the rear of the sign. The beauty
is that it only takes a little bit of cover to keep this one
completely hidden and there is plenty of that
here.
This will be the first place you
search because - it’s just too easy. A 7-4 win without
even moving from GZ.
This will be the last place you
search because - it’s just too easy. Why would we take a
chance on going down 7-4 on such an easy find.
To Search – Any glance
behind this sign from any direction is deemed a search. You peek or
poke, you pay.
2. The Wrong Way. (10m East of GZ)
Just
walk around to the oval side of that garden bed behind you. Look at
the permapine post fence and then pick the post closest to the
corner. The cache a 200ml Sistema container. It is underneath the
undergrowth on the ground at the base of the back of that
post.
This will be the first place you
search because - it’s the only spot east of GZ. That’s a
gimme.
This will be the last place you
search because - we have got you walking in the other
directions first. By the time you get back to this one, too
late

do anything that gets you a look behind the post.
3. The Nano (14m West of GZ)
Rabbitto
have not hidden a nano cache up to this point. Go to the walkway
opening in the fence just down the hill from GZ. Check the bottom
of the fence post on the left on the way through. About 5cm from
the ground behind the grass look for a 1cm diameter hole. The nano
is in there.
This will be the first place you
search because – it’s something Rabbitto have never done
before.
This will be the last place you
search because – why would Rabbitto place a nano cache
when they haven’t yet?
To Search – Reach down
or do anything that gets you a look at the base of the
post.
4. The Dead Tree (86m NW of GZ)
Follow
that path through the gateway that you passed at the Nano. Take a
short walk until you reach the end of the peninsula and you will be
adjacent to a large dead tree. There is an opening in the tree
about shoulder height and some plant and leaf debris in that
opening. The 200ml Sistema is just a little under that
debris.
This will be the first place you
search because – it’s so obvious that a typical cache
hide would be the place.
This will be the last place you
search because – it was so obvious that you will ignore
it till it’s too late.
To Search – Poke or
touch is just too much (even with a stick).
5. The Place it’s Not (75m SSW of GZ)
You will
actually need to follow a path out of the park and re-enter on
another path just past the creek. You will find a 200ml Sistema
container in a stump right next to the high side of the path. The
centre of the stump is hollow and a couple of rocks and bark hide
the cache. Actually, I can tell you that the cache is not here. If
you search here, you search in vain.
This will be the first place you
search because – you think that we have tried to mislead
you.
This will be the last place you
search because – would Rabbitto deliberately tell a
fib?
To Search – If you look
inside or poke any part of your anatomy or any other object inside
the stump, that’s a peek.
6. The Farthest Point (164m NW of GZ)
From GZ
look across the lake at the metal grate. You will need to make your
way to this grate. Just to the right of this grate as you face the
lake and next to the fence is a pile of logs. Move the top two logs
and the 1 litre Sistema cache will be revealed.
This will be the first place you
search because – all the other ‘closer’ spots are just
too ‘close’.
This will be the last place you
search because – you will have checked every other place
before you get here.
To Search – Tough call
but once you get over 140m from GZ, that’s a
look.
7. The Mystery Spot. (86m from GZ)
Somewhere in this park is a second information sign similar
to the one at GZ, It is 86m away but in which direction? Just
behind this sign to the right is a small tree with a small plant at
its base. The 200ml Sistema is under the foliage of the
plant.
This will be the first place you
search because – The answer to Psychology 101 was #1 so
this one will be #7.
This will be the last place you
search because – it’s too similar to another Rabbitto
series to be correct.
To
Search – Looking, feeling or
poking under that plant is a search.
