Geocache Description:

AmmoBox

After walking over the bridge, Lacey Creek, the valley, and up the hill you have entered the part of Hidden Lake Forest Preserve which is considered a moraine. Look around the cache area. There a different size boulders~rocks, which are not "native" to this area (you will see some limestone); however the granite rocks are left from the last glacier that moved through North Eastern Illinois. Hidden Lake ~ which is in the southeastern portion of the preserve is a natural lake left over from glacier melt waters. There are a few marshes and more areas of exposed rock in this area too. Take a walk and explore the rest of the forest preserve after you are done "hunting" the cache's in the northeastern section!

Hidden Lake Forest Preserve has been left unmanaged for decades. Over the years barbed wired fencing, wood fencing and tree lines are common boundary markers. Please use care around the barbed wire.
