Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions
in our disclaimer.
The cache is placed in a Downer Cemetery, a small historic cemetery
in Canton, Michigan. It was granted by Lucretia Downer. Some of the
stones are worn and broken, but the cemetery is well kept for the
most part. Many of the burials date to the mid eighteen-hundreds.
One stone, lying flat on the ground, is particularly interesting.
It appears to have a decoration of gourds on the top.
The cache is not far from this stone. It is a black matchstick
container. Please bring your own writing utensil.
This is a walk-in cemetery. Parking is available at the end of the
road, not far from the entrance.
The SQ in the cache name above signifies Spirit Quest, a project to
distinguish those caches that are set in cemeteries or memorial
gardens. Please be respectful of the area. Michigan law states
that you are only permitted to visit cemeteries dawn to dusk.
This cemetery has no additional posted hours.
