Geocache Description:

A quick cache and dash located right off Highway 20 on Whidbey Island.

Should be a quick find...a true numbers builder. Cache is a small Temporary replacement container...log only, bring your own pen. Please replace it carefully with enough concealment to keep unwanted eyes away. Woo Hoo for Koondogs FTF!! Less than 4 hours from listing to "FOUND"!! So, since placing this cache.... There was a section of 2 X 4 nearby that people felt was the perfect thing to hide a cache behind, but was really only an unintentional diversion...and the logs entertained us.... Then, one day a wig showed up...the wig was there for quite a while before I'm almost sure some litter conscious cacher hauled it off to the trash....CITO! Since that wig disappeared, the cache has seemed to come up missing a few times, but I've always found it right where I put it...not sure whats up with that.... There had been a rash of trash left in the area, but I'm sure it wasn't cachers who dropped it off... Now, the next chapter in the history of the cache...There is a homeless woman living in her truck that uses the parking lot at night...I'm pretty sure she's been more alarmed by cachers than cachers have been alarmed by her. I don't know if she knows about the cache, but so far, she hasn't bothered it or any cacher. Please respect her condition as you make the grab... Well, it appears the homless woman has moved on, or at least she hasn't been reported for a while... Last I checked, the cache is still doing quite well, right where it was originally placed... Then, along came the rains and washed the cache container out...or so it seems. Early in 2011 the cache went missing and there is evidence of some minor maintenance having been done around the location. We've checked the location a couple of times since and it appears now that it may now be safe to replace the cache. It will be a temporary container... And the saga continues....I forget exactly when, but in mid 2014 someone parked his old truck and camper and a few weeks later his older model RV near the cache location...on both occasions he learned that it was not an acceptable place for him to camp and he moved on to other parts unknown. Sure hope no cachers were put off by that short lived episode. Since then, the location has been pretty quiet, being used as intended - with the always present possibility of seeing some of the Navy's newest aircraft flying into the nearby air station. Some day I'm going to replace that "temporary" container .... Well we never got around to replacing the temporary container before it went missing more than once. We've decided this "colorfully" mixed history cache has run it's course, provided a number and sometimes an adventure for those who fond it, and its time to settle into retirement. We've enjoyed the stories told and hope the next cacher daring to place a cache near this place has as much fun with it as we have had. Adieu Smith or Jones. CC
