This cache has been archived.

NCreviewer: As there's been no cache to find for a long time, I'm archiving it to keep it from showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements.

Geocache Description:

35 mm film canister.

Happy to have recently adopted this cache from jcdecker after finding several of his other cemetery hides. Leaving his description intact as it contains all you need to find the final location.

Hillcrest Cemetery is owned by the Town of Cary and is hidden, and I mean hidden, in the middle of old neighborhoods in downtown Cary. A fascinating cemetery with some interesting plots.

To approach this you will need to take Page St. It will dead end into the cemetery. It is open from 8-6 during the fall and winter and 8-8 in the summer. Do NOT approach from any any other direction since it's all homes adjacent to the cemetery.

You will need to visit various graves to solve the coordinates for the final cache.
Latitude: 35 46.AAB
Longitude: 078 47.XXY

The posted coordinates will take you to the grave of Major Efrain Zambrana.
Mr. Zambrana served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and retired as a Major in 1963.

AA - Age of Mr. Zambrana at his death - 10 (just subtract years)

35 46.740 078 47.155
These coordinates will take you to the family plot of the Maynard family. I tried to find some information with no luck but my guess was that Maynard Rd. had to be relative to this family.

B - Numeric day of Luther Wyatt Maynard's birth

35 46.758 078 47.098
This family plot had the most interesting stone work in the cemetery. This specific gravestone was the most curious for me. Who was Buddy and why was his life so short?

XX - Last 2 digits of the birth year reversed
Y - Month of death - 6

The cache is within the cemetery and is NOT near any of the neighbors even though they are very close. Take the time to enjoy the short walk, be respectful, and do a bit of reflecting.
