Welcome to the Huron-Clinton Metroparks 2007 Geocaching Adventure. This year’s adventure has taken on the form of a Sudoku puzzle. Traditional caches or multi-staged caches have been placed in eleven of the thirteen Metroparks. Find the caches to acquire the numbers needed to complete and solve this Sudoku puzzle. Look for the answers / numbers attached to the cover of each cache.
Brochures can be found in all of the Metroparks caches, park offices, nature centers and can be downloaded from the metroparks.com web site.
Two of the caches contain “Bonus Numbers”. These numbers are not needed but will make the puzzle a little easier for those of you that need a little extra help with this type of puzzle.
There is really only one rule to Sudoku puzzles: Fill in the grid so that every Row, every Column, and every 3 x 3 Box contains the digits 1 through 9 with no duplicate numbers.
We hope you take a look at the information placed in each of the caches about the many natural features that can be found at the Metroparks. Enjoy this new twist to this year’s adventure.

Participants completing this year’s adventure can turn in a completed Sudoku puzzle and will be entered into a drawing for one of twenty 2008 Metropark Vehicle Permits. Winners will receive a permit in early January 2008. Completed puzzles and contact information shall be turned in to any of our park offices by November 30, 2007. Caches for this year’s game will be pulled in early December 2007.
The Metroparks will be hosting a picnic and geocaching event at Lower Huron Metropark on Saturday, September 15th at 11:00 am. The location this year is N 42 10.583 W 83 25.658. We hope you can join us.
Many of the caches and coins placed this year are located in or near nature study areas. Please note that pets are not allowed in these locations.
Some of our parks conduct a deer management program on several weekends in the fall. As a result, the adventure will be closed on some dates. Call ahead to the park before you visit.
Developing a cache? A permit is required for any cache located within the Metroparks boundaries. Caches must be removed or moved after the cache has been in place for a year. Please pick up a cache site permit from a park office or download a copy from the Metroparks web site.
A Metropark vehicle entry permit is required: Annual - $20 regular/$12 senior citizens or daily - $4. For general information contact the Huron-Clinton Metroparks at 1-800-47-PARKS or visit the Web site at www.metroparks.com. All park rules and regulations apply. Park in parking lots only. Park hours vary, please call ahead.
Check out the geocaching links on this page for more information on this activity and to find other caches located within the thirteen Metroparks.
