Lime-tree Study Path of Mozsgó
You can study the botanical, zoological and geological characteristic features of South-East part of Zselic hilly country in case you go along the Silver Lime Path made by Szigetvár Forestry. The total length is 6,2 km and contains 16 station with information boards. You can find the starting point (in Mozsgó village by the side of the football-ground), that is a potable water spring called Szentkút-forrás (Holy Well Spring) of Virgin Mary. The 16th, that is the final station is the potable water László-spring. Here you can find a little forest rest-place in a romantic close forest valley.
You will be showed over this path by silver lime leaf shaped green tourist signs painted on trunks.
Mozsgó
Mozsgó is a 1000 resident little village in the valley of Porovica brook and you can arrive here from No67 highway that is between Kaposvár & Szigetvár.
In the middle-age there were three little villages instead of today Mozsgó (named Bögör, Dombró and Szentmiklós) but in the course of sieges of Szigetvár castle occuring twice (1556 and 1566), the Turkish army destroyed those. The new village came into existence more than 300 years ago. This region was in property of Batthiány family.
Find the cache
You can find the cache at the 15th station, in a little winded-up open-air sandstone-mine where residents of Almáskeresztúr village obtained the stones to build theirs houses in the past.
Don’t you walk 6 km path twice (there and back 12 km)? You can park your car in Almáskeresztúr village in front of No1 deserted house (N46° 7.051' E017° 53.590'). You go South along the yellow strip tourist path (it is a cart-road) to N46° 6.871' E017° 53.801'. Here you leave the cart-road and you go a little bit left (southwards) 50 m distance on fringe of the meadow; then you find the crossing of study path; then you go East along the study path to the 16th station.
