Are you like me in the respect that you just love the drive-in theatre? I spent a lot of my formative years watching flicks in the open air setting of the drive-in. My grandfather used to run the Lake Drive-In Theatre in Wolcott, CT, and every Friday night during the season, we'd pile into the car and head on out to the drive-in. When my parents wanted a Friday night alone, I'd tag along with my grandfather and perch on a stool on the best spot in the lot while he ran the projectors.
I can remember watching "The Wild One", "Invaders from Mars", "Irma La Douce", "Invasion of the Body Snatchers", "Psycho" and many more films while enjoying the warm summer breezes and the endless starry sky of the night.
As I grew older, my affinity towards the drive-in continued undiminished. Like many others, I conducted a few "rites of passage" at the drive-in, and suffered through many a "B" horror movie.
The drive-ins are almost extinct now. I believe there are less than 20 of them left in the entire state of Texas. This cache is planted at the only one within 50 miles of Dallas.
Co-ordinates were determined with a Garmin 60Cx with WAAS enabled, in ideal conditions, averaged over a three minute span, to an accuracy of 18.7 ft.
Enjoy!
