Rog11: It is too difficult for me to visit this cache so I am going to archive it. Time for one of the younger cachers to put one in this wild area.

Geocache Description:

Wood land county conservation area. Steep hiking trail with a altitude change of about 180 feet.

This is a little known spot close to where Skillet Creek enters the Des Moines River. A trail leads to the top of the ridge where several Indian mounds can be seen. These are cemeteries of the native people so, please, no digging for artifacts. This has been done in the past but do not add to the damage. The mounds were built in the late Woodland period which lasted from about 500BC to 1000AD. I would also encourage you to use the hiking trail to the cache rather than bushwacking in a straight line from the parking area since the terrain is quite steep and there is quite a bit of undergrowth, downed trees, thorns, & gullies. The cache is only about 100 feet from one of the signs telling about the mounds so there is only a minimal amount of bushwacking actually necessary. The container is a plastic 1 gal paint bucket with a screw on lid covered in camouflage tape. The altitude change from the parking to the cache is about 180 feet. Parking is at N42 15.605 W094 00.226
