Geocache Description:


Come to the historic The Restaurant at the Station in the center of Tamaqua on Saturday, June 9th, 2007 from 12:00 to 1:30 pm for a light lunch, etc. and geocaching conversation. The physical address is 18 North Railroad Street, Tamaqua, PA 18252, the site of the old Tamaqua Railroad Station.


We are from out of town, but my wife, Lia, TAHS '92, grew up in Tamaqua and we come to visit her parents and sister several times a year. Now that we are geocachers, we mix that activity in on our trips. We have seen many of your names in the log books and have followed some of your events from afar, but now we want to personally meet some "Schuylkill County Geocachers." So, I have chosen an interesting and historic venue in Tamaqua for a small geocaching event to take place the next time we are in town.

I have been driving past five points for many years and always liked the abandoned train station in the center of Tamaqua. I was very happy to hear that there were plans to restore it, and equally happy to see it restored, and to have a nice little park adjacent to it. I, however, never realized that a restaurant had been incorporated into the old train station. So, I contacted the owners, Bill & Sheryl, and they are more than happy to be host to our small event.

Please RSVP with the number attending by Thursday, June 7th, so that I may give the total planning to attend to Sheryl on Friday. That way she can be prepared for us on Saturday at lunchtime. We look forward to meeting some Tamaqua area geocachers! Please bring your geocoins and TBs.

CHALLENGE: There are many geocaches within 1 mile of this location, two of which are less than 528 feet away! So, make an afternoon of it! For the first 5 geocachers who can prove to me that they have completed ALL of these caches, I'll have a $5.00 gift certificate for lunch for you. Here is your proof: be logged in under your geocaching username, and have check marks next to all the active geocaches on THIS search page print out. Don't forget to print out BOTH pages.

UPDATE 5/10/07: I see that Fried Chicken and Coffee has added some new caches that are showing up within 1 mile of our event. So, now there are more to find for the challenge! Thanks guys.
