Geocache Description:

This cahe is a good starting point for "GC129NP Grindneset" by 2v.

Idag står bautaene i to rekker, vinkelrett på hverandre.

The stone monument was registered in 1919. At that time only one stone was standing and the other was used in bridges. The monument was restored in 1952 by Jan Petersen. The stones are placed at right angles on each other. The stones in the eastern line are standing at their original place, but we are not so sure were the northern line was placed. The stones are 1,8 – 4 meter high and 0,5 – 1,5 meter wide. The stones are called Resasteinene or Sversteinene, and the field are called Dukjen.

In 1926 there was a burial mound east of the stones. The dead was burned in a funeral pyre, and the ashes was put in a jar that was put in the grave. That was a common way for burial in the old Iron Age (300-400 AC).
