Geocache Description:

Here in Jerusalem legend has it that the "Sultan's Pool" [valley of the son of Hinnom] - originally known as "Ge Ben Hinom" is the center of the world. The Bible/Old/New Testament also reference this location. Today this location is home to the “Jerusalem Walls National Park- Ge Ben Hinom Climbing Site”. On the weekends you’ll see many climbers in action. The maximum climbing height is 15 meters. There is a visitors sign with instructions and warnings. The site is maintained by the Israel Alpine Club.
Getting to this geo-cache is easy. It is located near the Jerusalem Cinematech/ Menachem Begin Heritage Center and the Old City. Just follow the “blue and white” marked trail. A good entrance point is by the B'nai B'rith Pedestrian Bridge (see additional Waypoint). The garden you’ll pass through is a gift of the Wolfson Foundation- London (through the Jerusalem Foundation).

This geo-cache is REPLACING the “Gersham- Jerusalem Foreign Exchange” which is unfortunately disabled (temporarily I hope) due to massive reconstruction and re-zoning of the area. History of the “Gersham- Jerusalem Foreign Exchange” cache: Greg, a geo-cacher from Gresham, Oregon; proposed a “Gersham (Oregon) Foreign Exchange" and “Jerusalem (Israel) Foreign Exchange" to run simultaneous. Both Geo-sites started with travel bugs and their goals are to travel to the alternate site! So on April 30, 2005 the Jerusalem travel bug TBJKDQ was activated and placed in the Jerusalem site. It's gone now and the journey has started. So to complete its mission this Geo-site was chosen.

This is a micro-cache. There is a log and small pencil. Travel Bugs can be left in the small zip lock bag. Be sure that the Geocache stash note is visible. If there are climbers at the site don’t worry about them as muggles, they are too busy spotting their climbing partners. If there are "others" in the area, then pull out the cache when they are not looking.

I am frequently in the area either climbing or just walking by (it’s on my way home from work). With the encrypted hint and a compass you can get a bearing to the hidden site from a certain rock formation (with a little bit of imagination). Just make sure the compass is not near the GPS or some other iron object.

For now Good Luck (b'ha-tsla-cha–in Hebrew)
