Geocache Description:

Terrain is level. The Rating is a 3.5 because the hike or bike ride could be in excess of 6 miles round trip, depending on where you begin. Coordinates updated on 01/02/2024 - Thanks VTEngr! Coordinates were averaged 250 times to an accuracy of 15 feet. The cache is not near the Poison Ivy on the south side of the trail.

The New River Trial State Park is the longest linear state park in Virginia. This cache is located near the junction of the Fries and Galax Spurs of the trail. The Fries Junction bridge was built in 1931 by the Virginia Bridge and Iron Company of Roanoke, Virginia. The cache is a log only, so BYOP. Depending on trail traffic, stealth may be required. Enjoy the trail. Great place for birdwatching!
