This cache is dedicated to the exchange of books! Bring a favorite
book to trade for one in the cache. All trackables and sig items
are welcome however; please do not put other swag in the cache.
Even though the cache is an ammo box, please be sure to place your
book in a zip lock, as even a small amount of environmental
moisture sealed in the can will be very bad for books.
The parking coordinates off Rt. 202 are at N 43° 41.250 W 070°
25.900 and will bring you to a dirt parking area near the
trailhead. There is a trail map at the parking area but it only
contains the major loop trail. Follow the trail through the woods.
At one point you will need to veer left. There are several big
stumps near this intersection.
You will soon enter a nice pine forest. Satellite reception here
can be very poor due to the tree cover! Your GPSr should be able to
get you within 40 feet of the cache. The hint we’ve given should
narrow down the search area. Use your geosenses and you shouldn’t
have too much trouble finding the cache. Cache is a
well-camouflaged ammo box hidden within 15-20 feet from the
trail.
While we’ve never seen anybody while on this trail, the trail is
used by Gorham Cross Country teams for training, so please use
discretion and stealth when necessary. If there is snow on the
ground, please make lots of tracks in the area so as not to give
away the cache. Speaking of snow- we noticed last year that the
town did not plow the parking area out, so deep snow might be an
issue. Intrepid folk with snowshoes could probably park at
Narragansett School and make their way across the field to the
trailhead from that direction.
The Ammo can is 11”L x 5 ½”W x 7”D, so please be sure the book
that you bring to trade fits those dimensions. When you’ve made
your trade, please state online the titles of the books exchanged,
so that if someone sees a book they’d like, they can come and get
it. Please feel free to come back often and swap out another book.

We started the cache with the following books, for a variety of
ages.
“The Time Traveler’s Wife” by Audrey Niffenegger”- The copy I
read had come from the library, and when I found this, I was sorely
tempted to keep it to add to my collection! This book is a very
intriguing novel, which is very hard to put down. One part science
fiction and one part love story. "I met Clare for the first time in
October, 1991. She met me for the first time in September, 1977;
she was six, I will be thirty-eight. She's known me all her life.
In 1991 I'm just getting to know her."
“Naked” by David Sedaris- A very funny memoir! Good light
read.
“A Wolverine is Eating My Leg” by Tim Cahill- Traveler and
adventurer Tim Cahill shares his experiences. Most of the stories
are amusing, some are serious, but all of them are compelling. From
his adventures in a gorilla research camp, to his explorations into
the workings of mind controlling cults. Watch a full solar eclipse
in a snow-covered field. Dive for poison sea snakes. Hike from the
lowest point in the US (in death Valley) to the highest point. Tim
Cahill will make you feel like you have been there.
“Watership Down” by Richard Adams- This book is an all time
favorite of mine! “A remarkable tale of exile & survival, of
heroism and leadership… the epic novel of a group of adventurers
who desert their doomed city, and venture forth against all odds on
a quest for a new home, a sturdier future.” A classic, original
novel for just about anyone.
“Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” by J.K. Rowling- What
can we say about this book? If there is anyone out there who is
unfamiliar with it already, all we can say is that it’s time to get
familiar with it now! A modern classic for all ages. Fantasy,
adventure, friendship, and a classic tale of Good vs. evil told
with much creativity. A whole world is opened up for the reader of
this book.
“The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe” by C.S. Lewis- A fairy
tale adventure classic!
“The Borrowers” by Mary Norton- Anyone who has ever entertained
the notion of "little people" living furtively among us will adore
this artfully spun classic. The Borrowers--a Carnegie Medal winner,
a Lewis Carroll Shelf Award book, and an ALA Distinguished
Book--has stolen the hearts of thousands of readers since its 1953
publication. Mary Norton (1903-1993) creates a make-believe world
in which tiny people live hidden from humankind beneath the
floorboards of a quiet country house in England.
“Know your Guinea Pigs” – The Pet Library- A reference book that
nobody should be without… especially if they own or are considering
owning a guinea pig! Husbandry, health, feeding, breeding… it’s all
in there.
“Dave Berry’s Only Travel Guide You’ll Ever Need” by Dave Berry-
A humorous travel reference.
