Geocache Description:

A backroad view of the Colossus, a good old fashioned dual track wooden roller coaster. Cache is log only; bring your own writing utensil.

Spanning over 10 acres, Colossus is 1,608 feet from end to end. There are 14 hills and two drops of more than 100 feet each. Reaching a maximum speed of 62 MPH on 8,650 feet of track the ride is over three minutes of pure thrills.

Colossus was the wildest ride Magic Mountain had when we frequented back in the 70's and 80's. Now it only ranks a "moderate" rating next to the park's newer rides.

The cache is an easy find. Veer to the right into the unpaved parking lot at the stop sign and make like a roller coaster looky-loo. The road is frequently busy with employees coming and going. Don't drive or park on the narrow strip alongside the road (particularly if driving on the wrong side of the roadway). This seems to be drawing unwanted attention to the location.
