Geocache Description:

This is one of a set of caches devised and hidden to complement the “Celebrate the Summer Solstice with the Laird” event. They all have themes associated with various pagan rituals and beliefs that we have researched. We are not pagans so reality and fiction may have become blended and all themes and their complementary locations are subject to “cachers licence”

The Druid's life, as it be known,
Is carved for all upon the stone
To leave a lasting legacy
For all who open eyes to see.

So enter Stonehenge, breathe its air,
Discover life’s true meaning there,
Written within the stars, so bright,
Your path of everlasting light.
Then set your foot upon this path
And do not contemplate the math.
The sky, unfurled before you now
Will sanctify your sacred vow.

The Druid’s circle, once complete,
Will lay its blessings at your feet
And bring your spirit home, at last,
To a garden of peace and love so vast.

In ancient times a Druid was a priest, philosopher, teacher, counsellor and magician, the word probably meaning ‘A Forest Sage’ or ‘Strong Seer’. In modern times, a Druid is someone who follows Druidry as their chosen spiritual path, or who has entered the Druid level of training in a Druid Order.

It is generally accepted that the Druids were the priestly class of Celtic society that flourished in Britain before the arrival of the Romans. The inspiration for Druidry is therefore drawn from the traditions and mythology of the Celts. A revival of Druidry began in the 18th century when the idea that the Druids were responsible for building such monuments as Stonehenge and Avebury became popular.

Druidry, like most other traditions within Paganism, is a polytheistic religion that sees Nature as divine. Many Druids believe in the transmigration of souls, an idea similar to the Eastern concept of reincarnation. This is based on the idea that there are three circles of existence; life begins in the realm of Annwn; once the spirit takes physical form it enters the realm of Abred, the realm of life as we know it. The spirit may then return to Annwn to be reborn, or continue to the realm of Gwynvid, the dwelling place of the enlightened ones. Ceugant is the realm of the great spirit, the one source of all being, to which all will eventually return.

The cache is a traditional micro cache containing only a cache logbook - please bring your own pen. You will need a small pocking stick, a pen maybe, to retrieve the cache from its hiding place.
Currently the footpath runs through a planted wheat field.
