Geocache Description:

Rest stop geocaches are fun.

This rest stop hide is located on the east-bound side. You are looking for a micro container.

Ambulette. I learned that new word today. I have never before in my life seen an ambulette until today. Didn't know they existed.

As I was driving down I-70 toward this rest stop, I came up upon an old van. It was one of the older family-style vans. Not a mini-van or "person transport vehicle". Just one of those old vans.

It looked like it probably had over 800,000 miles on it. It kind of leaned to one side.

It had a big clunky set of emergency lights bolted to the roof, and it had the word AMBULETTE emblazoned on it in big bold letters.

As someone who has been carted off by an ambulance a few times, I started wondering about this ambulette curiosity.

I wondered what the requirements are to be deemed a full-fledged ambulance?

The questions in my mind...

What does this vehicle incorporate to qualify as an ambulette?

A better question is, what does the ambulette lack so that it failed to qualify as an ambulance?

If I'm laid out bleeding in the street somewhere, what would I want rolling up to help me, an ambulance or an ambulette? Hell yeah, I want to see a big honkin' shiny brightly-colored loud shrieking ambulance rolling up. Not a back-firing bondo-covered, primer-colored ambulette.

I guess I shouldn't make fun. If someone is hurt or dying, any and all help is priceless, isn't it?

Helping the injured and less-fortunate is about the most honorable thing you can do with your time on this planet. The ambulette is a good example of "do what you can with what you have".

After writing the above stuff, I googled ambulette, and learned that it is not intended to be an emergency vehicle at all. But I spent the time writing that stuff, so I'm leaving it.

Also, this geocache starts off with a Diabetes travel bug.

Have fun!
